The View tearoom at Osea is located on the sea wall overlooking the Blackwater estuary. Across the estuary there are two islands to the right is Northey Island currently owned by the National Trust which has restricted access. To the left is Osea Island owned by famous music producer Nigel Frieda who has created a holiday oasis by converting many cottages and outbuildings into holiday homes. Both islands are accessible via a causeway which is only passable at low tide.
Visitors to the tea room can watch the sea birds searching for food at low tide and in summer they can watch the magnificent Thames Barges glide past as they take passengers on river trips from the main berth on the quay at Maldon.
Osea Leisure Park is on the land formerly owned by Mable Speakman, who opened her fields in 1933 to families of pea pickers who needed a camping site. Today the land is home to a selection of caravans, mobile homes and a camping site; as well as a very special tea room with fabulous views.
