The Tiptree tea room at Southwold in Suffolk is on the busy high street just a few minutes walk from the sea front where brightly coloured beach huts and an iconic pier provides entertainment for visitors.  The patio garden at the rear of the tea room offers the perfect retreat for weary dog walkers.

Today some visitors to Southwold focus on the sea, the lighthouse and the beach while others enjoy the range of shops, boutiques and the historic buildings.  The pier which was built in 1900 suffered severe damage from storms and during the war but it was successfully refurbished in 2001 and is now a popular award winning attraction.

Along the coast Southwold harbour, which dates back to the 11th century  when it was a prosperous port, is now a haven for inshore fishing boats and other craft.
