Wing walker in her 80th year
Suzanne Gratton has been busy ticking off her bucket list prior to her 80th birthday in November. Last Sunday another challenge was ticked off her list – wing walking with The Wing Walking Company in Kent to raise funds for Parkinsons’ and neurological charities.

Martin Newell, poet, writer and former rock star entertained a full house at “the lock” tea room at Heybridge Basin on a cold wet Friday evening (8th March), part of The Essex Book Festival.

“The Lock”, a Tiptree tea room on the sea wall overlooking the Blackwater Estuary at Heybridge Basin celebrated 20 years since it’s official opening in 2003 this week with some of the original staff, friends and colleagues giving it a nautical theme.

From Maldon, take the B1026, Goldhanger Road and shortly before the 40mph limit ends, turn right into Basin Road. After one mile, park in Daisy Meadow car park and follow the canal towpath to the sea wall. The Lock is the low white building with a red roof, right on the river front ahead of you. Wheelchair access via sea wall ramp. Wheelchair-accessible toilet available.
