Tiptree Christmas Fair Success

Rennie Chivers, the Town Crier for the City of Colchester announced the opening of the Tiptree Christmas Fair at the Tiptree Visitors centre last weekend and then greeted people as they arrived. For those with a keen eye may have admired the town crier’s striking attire, much of which was made with his own hands.

The entrance to the Santas grotto was a hub of excitement as children waited patiently to be greeted by Father Christmas and his busy elves. There was even an opportunity for children to write and post a letter to Santa with their wishes for Christmas.

The chilly weather didn’t deter the many people who visited the stalls and end enjoyed the tasty treats.  Hot chestnuts, warm pies, cakes, Yorkshire pudding wraps and hot chocolate were very popular. Freshly cut Christmas trees from the farm at Goldhanger were ready for sale and we hope people will recycle them via Farleigh Hospice tree service; for a small donation Farleigh will arrange to collect them from your front door.

“We had an amazing weekend, and it was a great opportunity for many local stall holders to sell their goods and handmade gifts.  We would like to thank Rennie Chivers, the stall holders, visitors and colleagues who made it such a success,” said Aimee Meredith, marketing manager for the Tiptree tea rooms. The damp start on Saturday turned into a glorious sunny day on Sunday which encouraged even more people from Tiptree and beyond to visit the Fair.

Anyone who missed the Fair can still find Christmas goods in the Jam Shop, and they may be able to book Christmas lunch in the heated marquee in the garden.
